Tribute To The Best
This page is dedicated to the memory of two great men in the Power Generation Industry
Jack Amos
Jack Amos began his career in the Merchant Marines working in the engine room and was soon promoted to 1st Engineer in WWII. When the war ended Jack went to work for the Pope & Talbot Paper Mill in Tillamook, Oregon. It is here where he gained the knowledge in Chemical Recovery Boilers. Ketchikan Pulp hired Jack and soon after made him Power House Superintendent. He stayed with Ketchikan for close to 20 years until the mid 70’s when he was recruited by Mr. Kenneth Ford of Roseburg Forest Products. to take over the R.F.P. Power Houses.
Jack’s first project was to ad 35 MW of generating power to the Sawmill Power House in Dillard, Oregon. Jack not only completed the task successfully using 3 used Elliott Turbines but was able to continue operations either on or under budget until his retirement in 1990. In 1994 Jack Amos passed away and we lost not only a dear friend but an icon in the Power Generation Industry. He graced our lives and we are better for having known him.
Larry Jadot
Larry Jadot began his career at the Elliott Factory in Jeannette, PA in 1939. In 1945 Larry became a full time Field Service Engineer. While installing and overhauling the Elliott Turbine Generator Sets at the California Geysers in the 1960’s, Larry fell in love with the area and moved his family to the San Francisco Bay Area and became the Senior Field Service Engineer for the West Coast.
In 1979 Larry recruited David Maxwell who spent the next 2 ½ years apprenticing under Larry. In 1982 Larry retired and started his own shop and gave the factories a run for their money. Larry Jadot passed away in 1993.
A great friend and a wise teacher.
